Amentum Helps Afghan Military Maintain Fleet on the UH-60 Task Order
Amentum, under its legacy company DynCorp International, was awarded a seat on the Worldwide Logistics Support Services Contractor Logistics Support (WLSS-C) IDIQ contract in October 2018 by the United States Army’s Multi-National Aviation Special Project Office (MASPO). The scope of work includes the aviation services, supplies, materials, equipment, and manpower necessary to provide contractor logistics support (CLS) for non-standard aircraft, aircraft systems, and aircraft support systems.
In December 2020, Amentum was awarded the Afghan UH-60 task order, which includes one base and four one-year option periods. Amentum performs CLS in support of over 50 UH-60 aircraft assigned to the Afghan forces at multiple locations in Afghanistan. Amentum’s skilled personnel provide sustainment engineering, supply support, maintenance planning and management, aircraft modifications, component overhauls, technical data management, and transportation to support the AAF and SMW flying hours program. We integrate Afghan military labor into CLS operations for on-the-job training and ongoing mentorship to increase the host nation’s capacity to maintain its fleet of UH-60s.
Project Highlights:
- Our experience contributed to the award of this contract to Amentum. Amentum has been a trusted maintainer of UH-60 aircraft for nearly 40 years, since the initial fielding in 1981 at Fort Campbell, KY. We have trained host-nation personnel to assume responsibility for CLS for nearly 30 years.
- During program Transition, Amentum was able to leverage its extensive network of existing contract manpower in Afghanistan to support UH-60 Transition activities, resulting in 60% of the transition team already present in country. This reduced travel time, mitigated COVID-19 quarantine requirements, and minimized demand on life support. In addition, this saved the customer the travel costs associated with 12 transition team personnel.
- Amentum provides the most qualified and experienced personnel to support MASPO’s mission. Our OJT and mentorship solution applies customized methods and tools to develop the skills of Afghan military personnel on these aircraft.
- Our Program Management Office (PMO) is in Huntsville, Alabama, near the customer.
